Pick n Pay branded products at up to 20% discount

Pick n Pay is cutting prices on another 500 essential items and adding a host of promotions and deals in time for the festive season to ease the pressure on South Africans.

“We see the best way to serve our customers well this Christmas is to offer them incredible value,” says John Bradshaw, Head of Marketing at Pick n Pay, “but this Christmas, we think our customers will find not only great savings but a good deal more.”

“Our teams have done a really good job to source some incredible products for Christmas: mouth-watering gammons and roasts, delicious Christmas cakes and mince pies, a huge new range of toys, and a host of new and exclusive products across all of our categories.  All of these, and more, will be at better prices with bigger deals.”

Customers have already noticed the difference after Pick n Pay announced it would invest R0.5-billion in price cuts for customers, beginning in March when it cut the everyday prices of over 1,300 basic items and put over 1,000 items on special. It is now cutting prices on a further 500 essential products, introducing more than 2,000 promotions and offering savings of up to 20% on Pick n Pay branded products.

Bradshaw says he is encouraged by the response of customers to the March price cuts, which has prompted Pick n Pay to do more of the same.

“Our customers have told us they have noticed our promotions and our prices getting better. When we asked them where we can do even better on prices, they told us they need that extra bit of help on fresh goods, and in particular, on meat, bakery, and fruit and veg.”

Pick n Pay is not only introducing a whole new raft of price cuts – especially on fresh produce like potatoes, avos, bananas, apples and in-store bread and soft rolls, along with special deals on health and beauty products.  They are also launching new private label ranges in baking and cleaning products to build on the strong support customers have shown for their new summer ranges, like the Pick n Pay ice cream and the Pick n Pay braai ranges.

“The teams had a bit of fun with our summer ranges, with things like Paptert and giant mallows as well as a big reduction in the every day price of steak.  We have been blown away not just by the success of the steak deals but also by some of the surprise wins.  It turns out South Africans really love toasting some giant mellows on the braai!”

“Our research shows that customers want to put on great family meals as they always do in the Festive Season. However, they’re not sure how they can afford to have the full extended family round this year.  We are determined to give them great quality foods, decorations, clothes, toys and everything else they need for this time of the year, while at the same time saving them money, and helping them to afford to celebrate the season.”

Complementing the price cuts, promotions and expanded offer will be new services and products, like the Pick n Pay store card, offering up to 55 days of interest-free credit for a monthly fee of just R10, free money transfers at any till point nationwide until December 31 and 20% off 10 wines a month for members of the Pick n Pay wine club.
