Sales of Christmas mince pies at Pick n Pay are up 50% on last year as customers respond well to Pick n Pay’s revamped Christmas offering.

Head of Marketing John Bradshaw said that as shoppers look for something special this time of the year while also trying to manage their budgets, he was delighted to see customers responding to the combination of quality and value that Pick n Pay has been pushing to achieve.

“We have been working hard all year to give our customers a festive season to remember with their loved ones. From making sure we have enough turkeys and traditional braai meats for Christmas lunch, to making sure our mince pies, Christmas puds and cakes are affordable, we’re giving our customers a guarantee that they won’t have to choose between quality and value this Christmas.”

Bradshaw says that while 2017 has been a tough year for customers, it was great to see South Africans determined to enjoy the festive period.

“Christmas doesn’t need to break the bank; we have many specials on offer and a wide range of quality goods at really good prices. We’re offering some great deals on our festive fare, from imported turkey to new pork belly products, traditional lamb and other cuts, and a super range of confectionary, amongst many others. This past weekend, we saw meat sales double in many of our participating stores as customer responded to our ‘buy 2 get 20% off’ on butchery products. We will have other great deals like this to help our customers save in the run up to Christmas.”

These special Christmas deals follow huge price cuts on 1,300 basic items that Pick n Pay introduced in March, with many more to come.

Bradshaw says the success of the recent Black Friday promotion clearly showed that all South Africans love to shop for special deals. “We have been planning huge daily deals in the countdown to Christmas to help our customers even more through the season, starting from Friday the 15th. We think our customers are going to love them.”
